Our Process
Our team at Skyline Concrete Coating takes great pride in resurfacing our customers’ concrete surfaces. We perform an initial evaluation and offer expert advice on the work that needs to be done. After our evaluation, we will draft a customized plan of action for you.
Preparation
A good surface is a properly prepared one. We use a diamond grinder to grind away some layers of the existing concrete to reveal a porous and flat surface. We will vacuum to remove lingering dust, debris, or dirt until the floor is ready for the next phase.
Reconstruction
Once the floor is clean, we repair any parts that were damaged. We fill in cracks and even out the surface. By doing this, we prepare the surface for the basecoat application, after which we will vacuum all dust and residue again.
Applying the Basecoat
With a clean and even surface- we can then apply the basecoat. Our team will tint the color of the floor according to the color of the chips you choose. Even though the basecoat will never be visible, we use the same color as the chips because we aim for consistency and care in our work.
Applying Chips
At Skyline Concrete Coating we have an assortment of chips for you to choose from. You can use the Color Picker to find the chip that best matches your tastes. We will then generously dust the floor with the chips of your choosing and allow them to set.
Scraping
Once the chips settle into the basecoat, we then scrape away any excess before we vacuum again. Scraping the basecoat allows us to have a clean level surface that is primed for the topcoat.
Applying the Topcoat
Our team will apply the polyaspartic topcoat to your concrete floor. This coating is UV stable, which ensures that the color stays intact even under the onslaught of the sun in the summer months. The topcoat is safe, anti-slip, and anti-skid, making it an excellent choice for your family and car, especially during the rainy months.
Step 1
PREPARATION
Preparation includes shot blasting and/or diamond grinding.
Dust is minimized by having all grinders hooked up to vacuum systems.
Step 2
CONCRETE RECONSTRUCTION
Our menders and fillers are used to fix pits and cracks before the process begins. Giving you a completely flat surface for your new floor so that the surface is even and level.
Step 3
BASECOAT
Our self-priming pure polyurea basecoat is mixed and applied. This step creates the stable and durable foundation for your new floor!
Step 4
CHIP BROADCASTING
Immediately after the basecoat application – the chip is generously broadcast by hand – providing both color and texture to the floor. This step is what ultimately gives your new floor the design, color and a less slick surface.
Step 5
SCRAPING THE CHIP
Once the basecoat is fully cured, the floor is scraped and vacuumed to remove any loose or vertical standing flakes. This step ensures the end result is both flat and seamless – giving a completely uniform look.
Step 6
CLEAR COAT
The final step is to apply the UV stable Polyaspartic clear coat. This final coat seals all the previous steps up and protects your new floor from wear and tear including breakdown from exposure to sunlight.

How Much Do Your Concrete Floor Coatings Cost?

How Long Will The Concrete Coating Last?
We use the highest quality materials in our polyaspartic floor coatings and we have perfected our application process to make the concrete coating permanent. Once completely cured and adhered, the concrete coating is meant to last as long as the substrate it is adhered to.
What Are The Benefits Of Using Polyaspartic Floor Coatings Over Epoxy Floor Coatings?
Polyaspartic Floor Coatings dry more quickly than Epoxy Floor Coatings, and the finish is also more durable. Our floor concrete coating finishes are also more slip-resistant and will not discolor like some Epoxy Floor Coatings.
How Long Do I Need To Stay Off My Concrete Floor Coating After It Is Installed?
Our flooring cures within a few hours, however our team of professionals recommends waiting at least 4-6 hours before walking on your brand-new concrete coated flooring. After 12 hours, you can begin moving lightweight objects onto the flooring, like light patio furniture. We recommend waiting a full 24 hours before moving anything heavy back into the area where we have applied the coating (your car, heavy equipment or furniture etc.).
Will My New Concrete Floor Coating Turn Yellow?
It sure will not! Our concrete floor coverings will not yellow or discolor, because they are UV stable. This one of the many benefits of using Polyurea or Polyaspartic floor coatings.
Will I Need To Reseal My Concrete Floor Coating?
If you follow our maintenance and cleaning guidelines, you should not have to worry about resealing the concrete floor coating because it will help you to preserve the life of your concrete coating topcoat.
How Long Does It Take You To Apply Concrete Floor Coatings?
We have perfected our 6-step application process and most projects take between 5-10 hours to apply depending on the square footage. We pride ourselves in a one-day application and will do everything possible to stay within that time frame. Rainy weather can delay the project, but it is rare.
How Do I Care For My Concrete Floor Coating?
You can clean our concrete coatings with typical sweeping, mopping, or steaming, and hoses. However, you can also use non-abrasive cleaners, like CLR® to remove grease or other stains.
Will Oil Stain My Concrete Floor Coating?
Our coatings are oil-resistant as well as moisture resistant.
Who Invented Polyaspartic Coatings?
Bayer Material Science first developed Polyaspartic coatings in the 1990s to protect steel bridges and infrastructure from rusting and corrosion. It has since been modified for different applications, such as extremely durable concrete flooring coatings.
What Are Polyaspartic Concrete Coatings?
Polyaspartic Concrete coating is another name for Aliphatic Polyurea, which is a hybrid material consisting of ester and other materials. It was originally developed to coat metal bridges. It was later used to coat concrete flooring due to its durability and moisture resistance. Polyurea is also used to coat truck bed liners.
Can Polyaspartic Floor Coatings Be Used Outside?

How Are Polyaspartic Floor Coatings Applied?
We have perfected a six step process for applying Polyaspartic Floor Coatings that involves prepping the floor, basecoating, applying chips, scraping the chips, and applying the clear UV protective clear coat.
Can Polyaspartic Floor Coatings Be Applied In Cold Temperatures?
You can! Polyaspartic floor coatings are safe to apply in temperatures as cold as 40 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit).
How Long Do Polyaspartic Floor Coatings Take To Dry?
Our Polyaspartic Floor Coatings are engineered to rapidly cure, and can be dry in a matter of a few hours! However, we recommend waiting at least 5-6 hours before walking on newly applied coating and 24 hours before moving heavy objects back onto the flooring.
Do I Need To Hire A Professional To Install Polyaspartic Floor Coating?
